The filmi duniya and IPL have become two faces of the same coin. After Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta and Shilpa Shetty, now Malayalam superstar Mohanlal and filmmaker Priyadarshan are all set to float a brand new Kerala IPL team.
Though the dotted line is far from being signed, fans are already hollering for actress Asin, the team’s brand ambassador.
Anupriya, a student, says: “Asin will be the perfect choice because as a young Keralite, she embodies the rising aspirations of youngsters in the state. Also, she is glamourous.”
Amit Kartikeyan, a software professional, adds: “A good second choice could be Vidya Balan, another Keralite”
On the name of the team— City Cricketers, Manoj Madhavan, a media professional says “It’s a weak name and has no Kerala flavour. It should have been something like ‘Southern Heroes’.”
Fans are already debating what colour the team’s uniform ought to be. Arun Kurian, an MBA student, says, “Since it’s God’s own country, the colour should ideally be green.”
